After several seasons adapting to elite level netball, promising young in-circle defender Parris Mason has come along in leaps and bounds. A standout 2024 campaign with the Pulse, where she was handed the goal defence starting bib for the first time, pushed Mason to new levels. A rangy and athletic defender, Mason first made the Pulse team in 2021 in her first year out of Manukura school (Palmerston North). Switching defensive roles, Mason spent 2022 honing her skills at goal defence for the title-winning Central Manawa in the NNL before returning to Pulse colours in 2023. During that time, she was a potent contributor when producing several telling cameo performances off the bench. With the starting role in 2024, Mason continued to extend her game, more acceleration is expected through time and added miles under her belt. Selected in the 2023-24 Silver Ferns Development squad, Mason has excelled in several sports, including netball, basketball and touch. She played for the NZU21 netball team in the 2020 Cadbury Series and with her elevation to the Silver Ferns in 2024 becomes a double international after making her debut for the Tall Ferns in 2022.
