Busy International Netball Season Ahead
With the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow done and dusted, the New Zealand Netball team have now scattered to all corners of the globe for some well-deserved rest and relaxation before the busy international season kicks in.
Five of the New Zealand Netball team arrived back in the country on Wednesday morning and will now enjoy a compulsory four-week break. The next time the players gather as a group will be for trials in September to make the 18-strong Silver Ferns squad to contest the New World Netball Series in October.
The Ferns team will face the current Commonwealth Games champions Australia in the first test match of the Constellation Cup in Invercargill on October 2nd.
The Australian Diamonds then head back to Australia to host the Ferns in two matches – in Melbourne and Sydney, before the final Constellation Cup match in Auckland at The Trusts Arena.
England are touring Australasia in mid-October, looking to back up their stellar performances in Glasgow, playing two tests against the Diamonds in Bendigo and Canberra before travelling across the Tasman to play the Silver Ferns in Rotorua and Palmerston North for the Taini Jamison trophy.
The English side will have a weeks’ break before partaking in the final event of the 2014 netball season, the FAST5 Netball World Series in Auckland in November, alongside Malawi, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Jamaica.
