Falkner adds the icing on the cake
A debut season with the WBOP Magic, a Netball World Youth Cup Gold Medal with the NZU21s and selection in the Silver Ferns squad – it has already been a big year for Monica Falkner.
But it’s not over yet.
The fearless, young shooter who burst onto the scene in the ANZ Premiership is in line to make her Silver Ferns debut against the England Roses in the Taini Jamison Trophy.
“At the start of the year, making the Silver Ferns was never on my radar – my focus was on performing for Magic and making the NZU21 team - this is just the icing on the cake,” Falkner said.

Falkner is only new to the goal attack role, but with the confidence to turn and shoot from anywhere in the circle she is expected to grow into a strong, long-term prospect.
“My game has developed hugely, both physically and mentally, this year,” she said.
“I’m prepared for a lot more things on court – I feel like I’ve performed well over the course of the year and that I’m just getting better.
“This is only my second year playing goal attack so I’m learning something new every day and developing in that role.”
