Fun & games (and selfies) with the team at New World

The Silver Ferns were given a rock star welcome by the New World Support Centre in Auckland on Thursday.
Staff at the Support Centre had the opportunity to meet the team, get an autograph or 12, a selfie and even take part in a goal shooting competition where they could win tickets to the upcoming New World Netball Series for the Constellation Cup.
Lise, from their Palmerston North store, was the lucky winner of a meet ‘n’ greet with the team after she was selected from a country-wide staff competition. She was flown up for the day and you couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she mingled with the team and posed for photos.
“I grew up watching them when I was younger so to see them in the flesh is pretty cool,” Lise said. “I love Grace and Phoenix – it’s great to have them in the team and to meet them!”

Annie, who works in the mailroom at the New World Support Centre, said the afternoon was “surreal”.
“I’m still thinking ‘wait these are the Silver Ferns I watch on tv and they’re here live’. It was exciting to meet them,” Annie said. “I’m a defence, so I love Casey; not only her leadership but her passion and her heart.”

Silver Ferns defender Katrina Grant said it was great to get out and meet some of their biggest supporters.
“It has been a full-on week for us, so it has been nice to have a break and chill-out with people who love the sport as much as we do and really get behind us,” Grant said.
“New World is a great supporter of Netball and everyone here has been awesome!”
