Grant: it’s a privilege
Announced today, Grant, alongside vice-captain Laura Langman, will lead a new-look Silver Ferns team into the upcoming Netball Quad Series.
“When Janine asked me I had to do a double-take, I was a little lost for words; I didn’t know what to say,” Grant said.
“It’s an emotional time and I am very humbled and privileged to be asked.
“My family are so proud. They’re close to my heart and are my number one supporters; they can’t wait for next week’s first Test Match.”

Grant points to former Silver Ferns captains (and defenders) Casey Kopua and Bernice Mene as leaders she has looked up to throughout her career.
“Casey has been a leader of mine for quite a while now and Bernice - I looked up to her a lot growing up,” she said.
“Knowing that those two are such strong defenders and great leaders, it gives me a lot of heart and passion moving forward for wanting to lead this team and be a strong leader.”
Grant believes SilverFans will have a lot to be excited about with this new-look Silver Ferns team ahead of next week’s Netball Quad Series.

“It’s a new-look Silver Ferns team; new management, new players and everyone is so pumped to be here and excited to hit the court running,” Grant said.
“This is the time to make change and get those younger players on court and give them the experience they need because 2018 and 2019 are two massive years for us with the pinnacle events.
“We are just so excited about getting that first Test Match under our belt. Against England – they’re always such strong competitors; it’ll be an exciting Test Match to watch.”
