Langman bringing explosive outlook for Silver Ferns

Silver Ferns midcourter Laura Langman is carrying momentum from a highly charged summer training regime which has her primed for the Northern Netball Quad Series in England.

With the New Zealand team selected on December 13, Langman enjoyed the Christmas and New Year festivities in a different way by preparing for her side’s first taste of action in 2019.

“I’m quite lucky my friends are quite sporty and they actually get excited when it’s the Christmas period because they get to try our trainings, so I like to share the love - the more the merrier to come down and train,” she said.

“I really love getting outside and whether you’re training on grass, sand or just different locations other than the usual it’s really refreshing and I’ve done plenty of work over the break.

“New Zealand has turned on the summer and it’s a wonderful time of year to train hard.”

Straight from the hot Kiwi summer, the Silver Ferns have been dropped into the chilly English winter having now arrived in Liverpool ahead of their opening match against the hosts on Monday 14 January at 7am (NZ time).

Langman knows the importance of the series in the context of the Silver Ferns’ ongoing growth, with the Liverpool leg of the tour offering valuable reconnaissance opportunities with the Netball World Cup set to be played at the same venue in July.

“England will be tough first up and a challenge for us will be making sure we all get out there on court and switch straight into game mode.

“This series gives us a great opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the explosive style game we want to play. That’s a big component of our values and the beauty of the flair and talent we have within the squad is wicked and something we want to capitalise on.”
