Langman: “bringing out the greatness”
Having fashioned an enviable Test record by international standards, Langman describes it as the ‘icing on the cake’.
“It is a massive honour; it is kind of the icing on the cake. It’s the work that you do behind the scenes which is the cake,” Langman said.
“Over the years, particularly the last four, we’ve made a really good cake and we need to continue that to ensure we get the odd cherry and can enjoy the icing as well.”

With a renewed sense of enthusiasm and a determination to succeed in the upcoming Netball Quad Series, Langman says she and newly-appointed captain Katrina Grant won’t be the only leaders on court.
“Going forward, the philosophy within the group is to bring out the greatness within each individual and have 12 leaders out there,” she said.
“So we’ll take the nod for a wee bit, but we’ll be looking for everyone else to step up as well.”
Part of the enthusiasm that is within the camp is being created by a new generation of Silver Ferns, with coach Janine Southby naming three debutants in her 12-strong team.
“What is really infectious is the energy the debutants bring into the environment and I think that is really great,” she said.
“Being named in your first Silver Ferns team is probably your most memorable moment bar debuting.
“Without scaring them, this is probably the smoothest day of their careers.
“From here you’ll experience some lumps and bumps but I think that’s all part of the process and the journey and I think it’s the memories that they make from here on in that matter the most.”
