Silver Ferns and England ready to hit the court

The Silver Ferns are all set for next week’s three-Test Cadbury Netball Series against the England Roses in Christchurch.

The series will be played under strict Covid-19 Alert Level 2 protocols, with matches closed to the general public.

Netball New Zealand will continue to monitor alert levels, and will open ticketing to matches only if Christchurch moves to Alert Level 1.

The first Test is on Monday 20 September, followed by games on Wednesday 22 and Friday 24 September, all starting at 7.30pm.

All games will be broadcast live on Sky Sport 1 and Sky Sport Now with delayed free to air coverage at 8.30pm on TVNZ 2.

For international viewers, Tests can be watched live at netballnz.streamamg.com in all territories outside New Zealand other than UK, where matches will be broadcast on Sky Sports UK.

NNZ Chief Executive Jennie Wyllie said they were pleased to be able to give the green light for the Test series against England after the uncertainty of alert level changes in recent weeks, including the nationwide lockdown.

“We have been in constant communication with England Netball and closely monitoring the advice being given by the New Zealand Government and are really excited to play the Cadbury Netball Series,” she said.

“There is no doubting that events like the Cadbury Series must be able to adapt and as we have said before, our number one focus is to ensure we can safely manage the needs of our athletes and all of those involved.”

Teams will be playing for the Taini Jamison Trophy and Wyllie said the Cadbury Netball Series was a key event for both nations as they continued to look ahead to next year’s Commonwealth Games.

“It is certainly a privilege to be able to play an international series during these times and I know both the Silver Ferns and England will take plenty of learnings from the three Tests in their build-up to the 2022 Commonwealth Games.”
