It’s ‘fan-demonium’ with House of Travel!
August 14, 2015
The Silver Ferns met up with 500 of their most parochial fans at a special House of Travel Supporters Function at Darling Harbour on Thursday night.
Given a rock star welcome, fans flocked to get a photo of their heroes as they took the stage for a special Q&A session hosted by former Silver Fern, Jenny-May Coffin.
Laughter filled the room as one-by-one the girls were asked who their roomie was and what their favourite moment on tour has been.
The dynamic defensive duo of Casey Kopua and Katrina Grant are rooming together – and while they didn’t spill too many beans, they did let their adoring fans in on the team’s favourite treat in Sydney Olympic Park.
“Cold Rock – it’s our treasure, it’s our treat. We’ve actually had to cut down and there are now certain days that we are allowed to go, because otherwise we’d be there every night!” Katrina said amongst a chorus of laughter.
“There’s like 14-20 ice cream flavours to choose from – 1 scoop for Laura [Langman] and about 4 for me.
“They have a cold rock that they put it on and you can choose any mix you like – a snickers bar, m&m’s, turkish delight, cookie dough, nutella. You mix it in, put it in a cup and have a good time!”
Betty Weavers, from Temuka in South Canterbury, is at her third Netball World Cup and loved the chance to have her photo taken with Katrina, as well as hear from the team.
She summed the night and the experience up perfectly when she said, “Absolutely fabulous – the whole week has been absolutely fabulous.”
House of Travel is an Official Travel Agent for NWC2015 and a proud partner of Netball New Zealand and the Silver Ferns.
