Selected in the experienced Silver Ferns team for the 1987 Netball World Cup, which included a build-up series against England, tall Canterbury goal attack Angela Bell had limited opportunities to impress.
A left-handed shooter with plenty of ability, the inexperienced Bell was battling the established shooters of the time, Margharet Matenga and Margaret Forsyth, as well as rising young gun Tracy Shortland (nee Eryl) for court time.
With a strong background in athletics, having also represented New Zealand at high jump, she was strong in the air, a great jumper and well-performed on the rebound.
While her appearances were fleeting, she played her part in the Silver Ferns unbeaten march towards the Netball World Cup title in 1987.
