Athletically gifted shooter Bailey Mes was the bolter in the team when making her Silver Ferns debut in 2012 while going on to win 76 test caps before retiring 11 years later.
Always a bundle of energy and athleticism, there was no doubting the natural attributes the rangy Mes added to a game. In a career littered with highlights, she was part of the World Cup-winning Silver Ferns in 2019 while claiming silver with the team at the 2015 World Cup.
Mes was also part of two Commonwealth Games campaigns, winning bronze with the Silver Ferns at the 2022 edition in Birmingham. A standout in the abbreviated format of the game, she also clinched a World Netball Series title with the FAST5 Ferns.
A humble and hard-working player, Mes added a dynamic element with her athleticism, impressive vertical jump, strong defensive qualities and an ability to switch seamlessly between both shooting roles while also adding wing attack to her resume.
Stymied by injury later in her career, at her best, the 1.87m Mes was a dynamic player, fleet-footed and an astute reader of the game, who was also able to produce something out of the ordinary.
