Playing for Bay of Plenty Coast, silky shooter Elisa Taringa went on to make the Young Internationals and NZ U21 teams before gaining selection in the Silver Ferns in 1994. She made her debut the same year against South Africa.
Able to play both shooting positions, the creative Taringa was an elusive player, blessed with natural ball-handling flair and immaculate timing.
Predominantly a goal attack, Taringa was a strong performer under the hoop, highlighted by her technique and accuracy from medium to long range.
Taringa competed in the 1995 Netball World Cup before her career was ended by injury.
