First selected for the Silver Ferns squad in 1978 as a 19-year-old, tall Canterbury goal attack Geane Hohipuha had touches of brilliance about her play which set her apart, despite deceiving with her laidback appearance.
An astute reader and thinker of the game, the left-handed Hohipuha had an equally impressive skill set which defined her all-round quality.
Unpredictability, mastery of the ball, flair and strong shooting returns made her a special player.
Making her debut in 1979, she was selected in the Silver Ferns Netball World Cup that year which also toured England and again in 1982 for a home series against Australia followed by a tour to the UK.
