A versatile player, who played at both ends of the court during her early days, tenacious Waikato midcourter Joline Henry went on to stamp her mark at wing defence.
The first-choice wing defence for much of her international career, Henry was an integral member of the Silver Ferns for a decade after making her on-court debut in 2004 against Australia.
During a lively career, she continued to demonstrate a keen perception for the finer arts of what makes the consummate defender.
Speed and flair combined with good aerial skills and determination made Henry a quality player over the years, defining the classic wing defence role with her dogged and relentless defensive qualities, ability to hunt out intercepts, strong driving play on attack and uncompromising intent.
Henry brought extra value to the role with her height and natural ability to read the game.
She won silver medals with the Silver Ferns at the 2007 and 2011 Netball World Cups and gold and silver medals, respectively, at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games.
