Auckland in-circle defender Pam Marsden was selected in the 1967 Silver Ferns team as a wing defence. Calm and quiet, she did her talking on the court, generally alternating games with Elizabeth Rowley.
With both players bringing different attributes to the role, the tactical switching of the wing defences proved a key in the Silver Ferns success in Perth when they went on to convincingly win the second Netball World Cup.
Marsden was a strong contributor in a rock solid Silver Ferns defensive effort throughout the tournament, the New Zealanders going through unbeaten.
She retained her placed in the Silver Ferns team for the two-Test tour to Australia in 1969 which was drawn one-all.
