An elusive player who could play all three midcourt positions, Waikato’s Pania Papa gained selection in the 1990 Silver Ferns team which contested a home series against Jamaica and a tri-series in Australia against the hosts and England.

Primarily a centre/wing attack, Papa had exceptional ball skills and was a fine distributor with the great ability to change the tempo of a game.
