First called into the Silver Ferns in 1996, tall North Harbour shooter Tania Dalton had a disrupted international career which spanned 10 years.
Predominantly a goal shooter, her strongest asset was her consistent knack of being able to get the ball close to the post. This came through a strong baseline drive and deceptive movement and with it the skill to shift defenders while creating shooting opportunities. She could also mix the circle up with a strong holding game.
A hard player to stop, Dalton was deadly accurate from close range, a high volume and reliable shooter with a solid all-round skill set.
A clever player with a strong tactical appreciation of the game, she was an expert at working in tandem with her fellow shooter and setting up the structure on attack.
A member of the Silver Ferns 2003 Netball World Cup team, major injuries and time away from the game to have children meant she was in and out of the team.
